I design and build things for audio \u2014 from analog circuits and vacuum tube systems to advanced digital modeling of amplifiers and effects. I\u2019m also a musician myself, which keeps me connected to how these tools are used in the real world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, I\u2019ve specialized in two main areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Vacuum tube technology applied to audio<\/strong>, where I\u2019ve published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/319877861_Introduction_to_design_with_electron_tubes\">book<\/a> to help others get started and continue to push the field forward through analog designs and a deep understanding of this vintage art.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital modeling of analog circuits<\/strong>, where I\u2019ve created state-of-the-art algorithms used in DAW plugins, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcelectronic.com\/series.html?category=R-TCELECTRONIC-PLETHORASERIES\">effects processors<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcelectronic.com\/series.html?category=R-TCELECTRONIC-AMPWORXVINTAGESERIES\">guitar pedals<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcelectronic.com\/product.html?modelCode=0709-AKA\">other products<\/a>, including for companies like TC Electronic and Two Notes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because I work across the stack \u2014 from analog and digital hardware design through firmware, software, and test systems \u2014 I often serve as both <strong>designer and end-user<\/strong>. That dual perspective is what allows me to create tools that not only meet technical requirements but also feel right to musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t see myself as a specialist locked in a corner. I enjoy moving between ideas, prototypes, and finished products \u2014 drawing up a new circuit, designing an algorithm, or guiding the entire process from conception to mass production, to guarantee a successful outcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-base-background-color has-background has-global-padding is-content-justification-center is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-27e848e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Engineering the full journey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, a project doesn\u2019t stop at an idea or a schematic. I like to take things all the way \u2014 from the earliest spark of a concept, through research, design, prototyping, and testing, right up to the finished product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That means I\u2019m involved at every stage: defining requirements, exploring new algorithms, designing analog and digital circuits, writing firmware \/ software, and building automated test systems. I\u2019m just as comfortable in the lab working on a prototype as I am checking how it holds up in real-world situations. Algorithm design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>When I design an algorithm, I treat it as both science and craft. Whether it\u2019s an effect or a circuit model, my approach is grounded in a detailed understanding of the electronics themselves \u2014 how tubes, transistors, and passive components really behave and interact. I don\u2019t just model isolated blocks; I look at the circuit as a whole, so the dynamic behavior and the subtle interactions between parts come through in the sound. That\u2019s what makes a model feel alive rather than just a collection of static non-linear pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For new effects, I draw on my experience as both an engineer and a musician. I study what\u2019s out there \u2014 from the classics to cutting-edge products \u2014 and then aim to push things a step further, even in small ways. I don\u2019t settle for algorithms that are merely functional; I want them to have character and depth, to stand apart from the generic \u201cstock effect\u201d sound. That self-imposed demand for detail and personality is what guides my work from first prototype to final result.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
